The Online Think Tank is concerned with the efficiencies of wind farms and wind generators. If they could become 30-50% more efficient then in fact they would be one of the more favored alternative energies. Each year solar energy finds new technologies to make the solar cell generation more potentially worthy. What if we redesign the wind generators with an additional propeller behind the first on the same stand?
One online thinker Mr. Richard Walker states; It seems practical to have two blades on each pole or additional ways to create energy on the blades themselves.
Indeed, he is correct, of course the environmentalists would kill us because the Wind Generators are killing migratory birds with Bird Flu already, but that is completely different topic. Due to the wing-tip vortices the tips should have winglets on them right? Especially since the air flows off, re-use it. Why not keep re-using the air and pancake stack the blades, why waste that free energy, these wind generators are not as efficient as they could be.
Unfortunately, it appears those who are in the Wind Generator Engineering domain are not interested in such ideas. I disagree with the experts as does Mr. Walker on this one. Oh, I am sure this wind generation folks are upstanding gentlemen. However, I think that the ROI for extra up-front costs since you are already building the contraption is very little as opposed to building 3 for every two new wind generation towers.
Why not make the 2 more efficient. That is what we always did in our companies. I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought.
